PERCUSSIONIST / EDUCATOR
Nicole is currently living in the DFW area and working as a Percussion Specialist and Lesson Teacher for Frisco ISD. Prior to working at Memorial HS and Trent MS, Nicole work as a Percussion Specialist for Shepton HS in Plano, TX and assisted with percussion for the Plano West HS cluster.
She has performed at TMEA with the Wind Ensemble directed by Jerry Junkin and has performed at PASIC twice with UNT in 2015 and 2016, premiering new works by Christopher Deane, Brian Nozny, Mark Ford, and Cory Robinson. Nicole has attended the Sō Percussion Summer Institute and the Leigh Howard Stevens Seminar, recently performed with the UT Percussion Ensemble at the Lassiter Percussion Festival, and played marimba with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013.
Nicole received her Masters in Music Performance from UT Austin, where she studied with Dr. Thomas Burritt and Tony Edwards and held an Academic Assistantship running the UT Steel Band Ensembles. She received her B.S. in Music Education from the University of North Texas in 2017. At UNT she studied with Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, Paul Rennick, Robert Schietroma, Jose Aponté, Ed Smith, Poovalur Sriji, Mike Drake, and Henry Okstel. She student taught with Michael Crawford at Independence High School in Frisco, TX.
